Cupping

Cupping therapy uses suction cups applied to the skin to lift the underlying tissues. This can help reduce muscle tension, improve tissue mobility, and ease pain. Unlike massage, cupping lifts tissue rather than compressing it, which can be helpful for stiffness or tightness. Temporary circular marks can occur and usually fade within a few days. Cupping is used as an adjunct to physiotherapy and exercise.
Do the marks mean it’s working?
No. Marks are a normal response and not a measure of effectiveness.
Does cupping hurt?
It should feel strong but tolerable, not painful.
Is it suitable for everyone?
Not always — your physiotherapist will advise.
