Dry Needling
Dry needling is a physiotherapy technique that uses fine needles to treat tight or painful areas within muscles, often referred to as trigger points. It is based on modern anatomy and neurophysiology rather than traditional acupuncture theory. The aim is to reduce muscle tension, improve movement, and ease pain. Dry needling is most effective when combined with movement and exercise-based rehabilitation.
Is dry needling the same as acupuncture?
No. While the needles are similar, dry needling is based on muscle and nerve science.
What does it feel like?
You may feel a brief ache, twitch, or heaviness that settles quickly.
Will I be sore afterwards?
Mild soreness is common for 24–48 hours.
